 A Room Filled With
Morning Light

A reflection on quiet beginnings, warm coffee and the simple beauty of a room filled with morning light.

Some mornings seem to arrive with a gentleness of their own.

There is no rush to leave the house and nowhere that urgently needs your attention.

 The room is quiet.
The kettle begins to boil.

Beyond the window, the day is only just beginning.

On mornings like these, I often notice the light first.

It slips softly through the curtains and slowly fills the room.

It rests across the bedspread and catches the folds of linen.

Shadows shift across the walls and familiar objects seem to take on a different character in the early light.

Everything much the same as yesterday.

Still familiar .. only lighter .. quieter

It somehow feels softer this morning.

Perhaps it is because morning light has a way of slowing down.
It invites us to pause for a moment and notice what is already there.

The warmth of a coffee held between both hands.

The comfort of a familiar chair.

The quiet anticipation of a new day unfolding.

For a few moments, life feels unhurried.

Breakfast can wait a little longer.
The day's responsibilities have not quite arrived.

There is only the soft glow of light moving across the room and the gentle feeling that a new beginning is taking shape.

Perhaps that is why these mornings stay with us.

Not because anything remarkable happened.
But because for a while everything felt calm, hopeful and complete.

A simple breakfast.
A warm coffee.
A room filled with morning light.

Sometimes these are the moments we cherish most.
