Studio Letter No. 2

Finding the Shape of the Studio

How stories, publications and collections began to find their place within one creative home.

FROM SOTTO STUDIO

Warm Sunlit Journal Vignette

Hello,

The story continues... as once the creative pieces came together, a new question emerged:

'What kind of place would Sotto Studio become?'

Choosing only pottery, writing or publications never felt right.

Its shape came from recognising the beautiful relationship that existed between them.

Please enjoy...

THE HEART OF THE STUDIO

The Stories at the Heart of the Studio

Writing became the place where many studio ideas first found form.

Whether through letters, reflections or quiet notes between projects, stories helped bring clarity, connection and meaning.

They are not simply added around the work — they are part of the creative work itself.

More Than a Blog

The Studio Journal is not a space for regular updates or quick posts.
It is an evolving collection of reflections, journeys, creative discoveries
and the quieter things worth noticing.

It grows slowly, with intention, and is shaped by
what feels meaningful to share — not by a schedule.

________

"Sometimes clarity does not come from removing ideas.

It comes from discovering the thread that has been
quietly connecting them all along
."

THE STUDIO LANGUAGE

A Visual Language
Begins to Appear

Over time, a visual language began to emerge across the studio.

Mediterranean warmth, soft coastal light, natural materials and Japanese restraint continue to guide the way.

Simplicity and respect for the marks left by hand remain at the heart of how we work.

One Creative Home

The Studio Journal, Publications and Collections each have their own purpose.
Yet they remain connected and continue to influence one another.

A story may inspire a publication. A journey may shape a ceramic surface.
Each doorway leads back to the same studio.

Once those places began to form, the stories themselves started to gather —
quietly filling the Studio Journal with questions, journeys, discoveries and
ideas that would continue to shape what would come next.

A beautiful chapter of discovery...

Thank you for being here as the studio continues to unfold.
Warmly,

Rachel
