Studio Letter No. 3

The Stories Begin to Gather

How reflections, journeys and larger ideas began finding a home within the Studio Journal.
FROM SOTTO STUDIO

Warm Journaling Desk with Botanical Sketches

Hello,

The studio begins to evolve... the different rooms of Sotto Studio are starting to take shape, the stories are beginning to arrive.
Some came from life and relationships. Some arrived from places visited. Some grew out of clay and making. Others came from questions that continued unfolding over time.

The Studio Journal gave the stories somewhere to be held togethers — evolving into a variety of expressive views.

THE STUDIO JOURNAL

A Place for Things Worth Noticing

The Studio Journal gathers ideas that remain with us.
The ordinary moments, the difficult questions, the creative discoveries and the experiences that reveal more when we consider them slowly.

Different Ways of Looking

Some stories invite us to look inwards. Some take us somewhere new.
Others begin in the studio among materials and making.
These different ways of looking help you find a doorway.
But the same curiosity connects them all.

"A story does not always begin with an answer.

Sometimes it begins with something
we cannot stop noticing

QUIET REFLECTIONS

JOURNEYS OF THE HEART

FROM THE STUDIO

Looking Beneath
the Surface

Journal, pencil and natural mug

Exploring identity, relationships and the ways we come to understand ourselves.

Gathered
Along the Way

Journals, photos, maps, natural leaves

Following places, discoveries and experiences that change how we see.

Ideas Shaped
by Making

Sketching botanicals, pottery, tools and working studio
Noticing what creativity, materials and the process of making can teach us.

AN IDEA BEGINS TO GROW

Capacity

One idea kept appearing across relationships, work, creativity and daily life.

We care. We intend well. We understand.
And still, our capacities to act, to communicate, to hold, or to sustain change can be different.

This idea began developing into a larger body of work.

'Capacity is not character.'

When a Story Asks for More Room

Some ideas in the Journal will remain individual stories.
Others grow, slowly, toward publications and deeper explorations.
The Journal is where both can begin — without pressure,
without needing to know their final form.

The Journal Begins to Feel Alive

With the categories in place, the Journal begins to fill.
Reflections, travels, studio notes and questions
are finding their way into the pages.
Sotto Studio no longer feels like an empty structure,
but a place that holds a growing record of things noticed and made.

With the stories beginning to gather, and the studio was almost ready
to open its doors and share what had been unfolding.
Thank you for being here as these early ideas find their place.
Warmly,

Rachel
